I am happy to announce that I have signed a publishing contract with a publisher for my book on the Kit Martin story. The publisher is WildBlue Press. They are known for True Crime books. They have also published other books concerning wrongful convictions, most notably Failure of Justice by John Ferak, an unbelievable story of six false confessions. This story was also told in a documentary called The Beatrice Six.
I don’t have a release date just yet. A lot depends on Kit’s appeal. The best-case scenario is that the book will be released about this time next year. Why so long? First, the contract gives me until October 1, 2023 to turn in a completed manuscript. They have a full year from that time to publish the book, though I expect them to move faster than that. Second, I still have people to interview. Third, there’s the appeal and the possibility of a new trial. Additionally, the book has to go through several rounds of early readers. Lastly, WildBlue Press plans to release the book in print, digital, and audio. All of this takes time.
The working title of the book is I Will Ruin You. I have not yet settled on a subtitle. I’ll probably put up a poll at some point and let people vote on several ideas.
I have a lot of confidence in WildBlue Press and its ability to get this story into the marketplace. It won’t be long before the whole world will know how the state of Kentucky convicted an innocent man.
