You have a damaged airplane with some crucial parts missing from the plane after landing. How do you find those parts? The NTSB decided to publicize their search in both print and radio. Two days later the debris field was located in a farmer’s field. The farmer who found a piece of the missing slat almost threw it away. Luckily, his father convinced him to contact the local paper to see if it was related to the plane that nearly crashed a few weeks earlier.
